Dear Parents,
This is to inform you that we will be running the Miles of Smiles dental program again this year, and permission slips were sent home with your child today. Dental examinations are a state law for Illinois students entering kindergarten, second, sixth, and ninth grade. This program offers FREE dental services to ANY student who turns in a permission slip for any grade level. The dental team will be coming out to our district in March (exact dates to be determined). The services that are available to your child include a dental exam, prophylaxis (cleaning), fluoride treatments, and dental sealants, which are placed on appropriate molars to prevent future decay.
School dental examinations must be completed within 18 months prior to the May 15 deadline for the required grades. Therefore, this exam will cover the dental requirements for students currently in kindergarten, 2nd grade, 6th grade 9th grade, as well as those students going into these grades for the 2026-2027 school year.
